Western Mysticism

Brian Andreas must be one of my favorite people. I discovered his work while waiting for a bus connection in Sacramento, browsing through one of the gift shops in the old town. I never thought of myself as much of a poetry fan - always got intimidated by the form and the assumed profound meaning and symbolism that I wasn't getting. Well, what Brian Andreas writes and draws demands neither reverence of the author's mastery, nor an in-depth deconstruction of a hidden significance. His vignettes bypass all that and cut right to the core experience, where more words would merely be a cumbersome burden redundantly attached to a living spark of fire.

It's much easier, he told me, if you like the parts you like & you like the parts you don't like. Is that some Eastern thing? I said & he said not really since he was from Idaho & it worked there just fine.
